Reporting to the Assistant Terminal Managers, the Loading Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Stevedores, Tractor Trailer Operators, and Traffic Directors and will act as the first contact between the Assistant Terminal Manager (ATM) and these employees.
The major duties of the position include 1) Monitoring the interaction between the work force members to ensure that the principles of a respectful work place are maintained, company policies are followed, and a healthy, safe work environment free of conflict is promoted; 2) Conducting meetings at the beginning of every shift; 3) Directing the activities of the workforce during the unloading and loading of the vessels ensuring the work is conducted in a safe and efficient manner; 4) Ensuring all employees wear relevant Personal Protective Equipment; 5) Conducting and/or assisting with daily “Tool Box Meetings”, maintaining records of attendance and discussions; 6) Providing regular updates to employees in relation to health and safety, loading procedures, etc; 7) Ensuring employees complete daily inspections of company equipment and provide inspection reports to the ATM or Maintenance department, as appropriate; 8) Ensuring employees complete daily cleaning of their facilities as assigned; and 9) Assisting with incident/accidents investigations in relation to property damages, employee injuries and vehicle accidents. Ensure they are properly investigated and follow up action is initiated when required. Report near misses.

Education: High School or GED and Post secondary education in a related field or a combination of experience and education.
Experience:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· Proven supervisory experience (2 years);
· Good verbal and written communication skills;
· Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office;
· Demonstrated ability to work as a Team Leader;
· Ability to prioritize tasks with attention to detail while promoting a positive work environment;
· Knowledge of the Canadian Labour Code Part II Occupational Health Safety, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and WHMIS.
ASSETS:
· Knowledge of loading processes.
· Experience supervising in a unionized environment.

Marine Atlantic's IT Department has an immediate opening for a Business Systems Analyst located in our Port aux Basques office.
The Business Systems Analyst provides technical support, training, and advice on the use of various Marine Atlantic Information Systems. These systems include Finance (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and fixed assets), Human Resources, Payroll, Ticketing and Reservations, Materials Management, Maintenance Management, Food and Beverage Management, Exchange Server (e-mail), Security, and a variety of desktop applications. The business system analyst also has an advisory and project management role in the design and development/enhancement of the various systems. The business system analysts will research trends in technology and identify potential opportunities for improving services.
The business system analysts are required to work independently, but also possess the skills to work effectively in a team environment with a very dynamic group of individuals. The business system analysts must have strong technical background but must also have good communication and project management skills. The position must also work closely with external service providers and developers, to ensure that all enterprise applications are maintained appropriately.
The business system analysts are centrally located in Port aux Basques. Given the geographical makeup of Marine Atlantic the business system analysts are required to travel to other locations to fulfill their job requirements.

CHIEF ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

This position, reporting directly to the Chief Engineer and functionally to the Master and the vessel’s Technical Superintendent, is responsible for all activities performed on board relative to electrical and electronic equipment and control systems.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE:
- Supervision of all Electrical Officers.
- All electrical/electronic equipment and control systems on board.
- A key role in maintenance planning for operations, refit/dockside maintenance, capital projects, and electrical enhancement.
- Marine Atlantic’s maintenance system by ensuring information is accurate and maintenance schedules are adjusted as required.
- Principal contacts include various internal departments, regulatory inspectors, outside contractors, manufacturer representatives, and sales personnel.

Inter-provincial Red Seal Industrial Electrician Certification

- CPR Certificate
- Previous work-related experience relative to various machinery configurations and control and alarm systems.
