Nickel Plant - Long Harbour
Recruitment
On April 14, 2009 Vale Inco Newfoundland and Labrador announced details around timeframes for their project at Long Harbour.
One of the key issues is labour needs. The company stated an individual needs to be a member of one of the building trades unions. The company has a collective agreement with the province’s Resource Development Trades Council. The Council will be providing Vale Inco with skilled labour.
The best process for individuals to follow if they are interested in working on this project:
- If an individual is already a member of one of the local unions, they are registered with that union. He/she should be familiar with the process for contacting his/her union if necessary.
- If an individual is not a member of one of the local unions involved, they can contact the local union directly about submitting a résumé and applying.
- Note: Local union contact information is attached.
- If the individual is still not certain about where to apply, he/she can send their application to the Trades Council. The council will then attempt to forward the application to the applicable union(s).
